Seeing Things Differently

My name is Tina and I’ve been attending the third block of Loudspeaker workshops for the past 7 weeks.

A couple of weeks ago we went out into Nottingham to photograph things around the city. We went to the derelict buildings behind the gallery. My initial reaction to them was that they just look like run-down buildings. Then I had a conversation with Jo, the artist and she said look at the shape of the glass in the broken window. Suddenly you start looking at it in a different way. You start to see what an artist sees and there is actually art within the building itself.

We photographed the buildings. This one is standing still doing nothing but when you look at it there is lots going on. The different colours and textures. If you thought about it you could probably come up with a story inspired by the building.

This is a close up of just one window out of a big massive building. The building was derelict with broken windows and doors. You can see the board behind the green leaves. We created a pretty image out of something which initially looked like a dump. When you look at it closely you can see something quite artistic and beautiful.
